Cricket is the most popular summer sport in Australia at international, domestic and local levels. It is regarded as their national summer sport, and widely played across the country, especially from the months of September to April. The peak administrative body for both professional and amateur cricket is Cricket Australia.

The tour consisted of three Women's One Day International (WODI) matches in September, a day/night Test match at the Carrara Stadium in Queensland between 30 September and 3 October, and three Women's Twenty20 Internationals in October.
Significance. The 1948 Australian team has great significance in cricket history as it is the only side to tour England unbeaten, earning the sobriquet "The Invincibles".
