Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is an overuse injury resulting in lateral elbow pain. The condition is caused by small tears of the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) tendon at its origin in the lateral epicondyle of the humerus (Figure 1). Of note, a similar condition affecting the medial elbow is known as Golfer’s elbow and is caused by trauma to the flexor pronator mass originating from the medial epicondyle.
